If you smell gas, immediately put out all smoking materials and any open flames. In addition, do not use any appliances, lights, or cell phones as sparks or flames from these sources might cause an explosion or fire. If you smell propane that you suspect may be leaking, you need to immediately leave the area and evacuate the building or area where you suspect that gas might be leaking. Once you leave the area, you should try to shut off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank, if it is safe to do so.
When you have exited the area and are a safe distance from the source of the gas smell, you should immediately report the leak from a neighbor's home or other nearby location by calling Lyons Gas Inc. immediately. If you can't reach your propane retailer, call 911 or your local the fire department immediately. Above all, don't re-enter the building until your propane retailer or the fire department has determined that it is safe to do so.
Finally, you should have a qualified service technician from your local propane retailer perform a complete propane system check and any of your propane appliances to be sure they remain leak-free before you attempt using them.
